PRINCE is set to follow in the footsteps of JAMES BROWN, WHITNEY HOUSTON and DIANA ROSS at the upcoming BET Awards - the pop superstar will be honored with a lifetime achievement honor.

The Purple Rain hitmaker is set to receive the coveted award at the ceremony in Los Angeles on 27th June, as the event celebrates its 10th year.

Organizers will use the ceremony to pay tribute to the singer's long running career and his contribution to music over the years.

The BET Awards show will be hosted by Queen Latifah and feature performances from stars including Kanye West.
