"Former San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders offensive tackle Kwame Harris was arrested and charged with assaulting his ex-boyfriend at a San Mateo restaurant. According to the lawsuit obtained by The San Mateo Daily Journal, the two men argued over soy sauce and underwear during the August 21 incident."
"Police say Harris and his former lover, Dimitri Geier, met at Su Hong restaurant in Menlo Park to exchange personal belongings. Harris agreed to drive Geier to San Francisco International Airport, but instead became upset when he poured soy sauce on a plate of rice, according to a copy of the lawsuit which was obtained by The San Mateo Daily Journal. An argument ensued “for approximately seven minutes” and Harris said he would not take Geier to the airport."
"As the two men went to remove Geier’s personal belongings from Harris’ car, Harris pulled down Geier’s pants and discovered Geier was wearing a pair of his underwear."
"The two men began arguing, then the verbal altercation escalated to pushing and shoving each other. The report states that Geier got in a few slaps, but Harris punched Geier in the face several times knocking him to the ground."
"The lawsuit named Harris as the aggressor. The police report lists Harris as 6 feet 7 and 240 pounds, while Geier is listed at 6′-1″ and 220 lbs."
"After subduing Geier, Harris threw Geier’s belongings into the street and drove off, leaving Geier to hail a cab to a nearby emergency room."
"Geier sustained fractured bones in his face, as well as lacerations and scratches. Geier had surgery to repair the fractured bones under his eyes and he required a metal plate placed in his head, according to the San Mateo Daily Journal."
“This really is a pure self-defense case. He was attacked, said Harris’ attorney Alin Cintean."
"Cintean claims Geier is attempting to extort money from Harris."
"In a response to the complaint, Cintean said Harris was “in fear of his life” and was “merely acting out of self-defense” because Geier was “attacking him for no apparent reason.”
“We’re looking forward to having this proven in court and clearing his name,” Cintean said."
"Harris is currently free on $75,000 bond. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison."
