It’s been nine years since R&B lost one of its shining stars, and even today R&B still feels lost. What I loved most about Aaliyah is that she never accepted mediocrity. She always strived to improve herself to greater heights no matter at what cost. Some artists get lazy after they’ve encountered success. They think that just because they’ve made it, they no longer have to put in the effort, whereas, with Aaliyah, she just kept pushing and pushing. Aaliyah was never satisfied until she achieved perfection.
‘I Care 4 U’ is one of the last songs she recorded before she passed away. Aaliyah has always been known as the star to grace her soft vocals over Hip Hop beats. However, it’s tracks like this that show Aaliyah was vocally underrated. She spent most of her years improving her craft to earn her place as one of today’s talented R&B singers.
