As of yesterday, the annual observance of African-American History Month came to a close.
However, lets take time out to remember important people and events in the history of the African disapora.
These were the young children and ancestors that paved the way for you and I.
As the first picture depicts "Learning is Wealth"!
"Fundraiser organizers used lighter skinned mixed race slave children as part of an campaign to raise money for African American schools in the 1860s. They believed that lighter skinned slaves would garner more sympathy, and in turn more money, for their cause."
Side Bar ~ I just wish we could find their living relatives and learn about what mark they made on the world!
