Bwood word of the day: Reductive (Dictionary.com) defines the adjective as " of, pertaining to, characterized by, or producing reduction." Dictionary.com defines reduction as "the amount by which something is reduced or diminished; a copy on a smaller scale"
According to Madonna, Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" is a reductive version of her 1989 song "Express Yourself." The remark was quite tasteless from the icon, considering Gaga's frequent regurgitation of being inspired by her (unlike Nicki Minaj to Lil Kim). Interestingly enough, the Pop queen falls into the category with her former foe, Janet Jackson, and Mary J Blige, with being unwelcoming to their predecessors (Ciara and Keyshia Cole).
"When I first saw her, I saw her performing at a very small club in Manhattan a couple of years ago, maybe it was like three years ago," she said. "I was actually really impressed by her. I thought she was really cool and she did remind me of me back in the day. I like her rawness and there was something fresh about her and ballsy, and when she spoke to the audience, she sounded like she had a similar sense of humor to me, quite ironic, and I like her. So I do think she is very talented."
