Ri-Ri' . . . G'rl Stick With The Brochitis Story!

Umm Donald Trump...You didn't miss out on anything.

Donald Trump, who said the singer cancelling a performance he set up "insulting." Trump said he hired Rihanna to perform at a Dana-Farber Cancer Institute fundraiser in Florida but she canceled claiming that she was ill. After seeing her perform at the NBA All-Star game a day later, Trump said “I thought that (Rihanna bailing) was insulting to everyone."
Now Rihanna, through her representative, has responded saying that she was sick and her doctor advised her not to get on a plane and go perform.
“Rihanna was recovering [from] bronchitis and her doctor advised her not to get on a plane as she would risk losing her voice and damaging her vocal chords."
“She feels terribly she couldn’t attend but was so grateful Jennifer Hudson graciously stepped in." (statement)

The Blackness . . . Keep, Keep On!
Beyoncé has stirred up controversy and has stepped into the arena of American racist stereotypes known as “Blackface, Happy-go-lucky darky or what some has called the dandified coon.”
For those who are not familiar with Blackface … “Blackface is theatrical makeup used by a performer in order to imitate a Negro.”
Now in the African-American community Blackface stirs up “racially, socially and politically incorrect emotions do to that fact that it appears to be an exaggerated caricature of an African-American person.
“White Blackface performers in the past used burnt cork and later greasepaint or shoe polish to blacken their skin, exaggerate their lips, often wearing woolly wigs, gloves, tailcoats, or ragged clothes to complete the transformations.”
So the burning question that has created much buzz around the world is whether Beyoncé has crossed the line between artistry and/or mockery?
Since I’m such a huge Beyoncé fan I’m somewhat bias yet torn between deciding whether she is paying homage to Nigerian musician and humanitarian Fela Kuti or has exploited African-American culture.
I would like to believe Honey B controversial photo stems from a good place, however, I’m just concerned that some of the readers of L’Officiel Paris March issue may get lost in translation.
Some European fashion titles feel that Blackface is edgy, groundbreaking, provocative, and kickin’ down the door and erasing the boundaries of racism . . . while others feel it is flat-out offensive?
So I ask you is 2011 “Blackface” merely just art, or rebirthing the 1800’s idealistic view of Blackness?
Fela Kuti

Beyonce marks the occasion with an homage to Nigerian musician and humanitarian Fela Kuti; Beyonce's husband, Jay-Z, is a producer on the acclaimed Broadway musical "Fela!," based on the icon's life, music and courageous defiance against government corruption. In a statement (via Jezebel), L'Officiel describes the Feli-inspired photo of Beyonce -- sporting blackface, tribal paint and a dress designed by her mom -- as a "return to her African roots, as you can see on the picture, on which her face was voluntarily darkened."

Toledo, Ohio Adrianne Palicki has been announced to play the New Wonder Woman aka Diana Prince.

Do you not understand Wonder Woman carries a golden lasso.

G’rl do you understand this women is highly skilled in using her Amazon Tiffany (just kidding) bracelets to stop bullets.

So I’m just preparing you for the harsh criticism that may be coming your way.
You know those DC Comic fanatics don’t play with their superheroine chick, so I don’t want you to be the lastest casualty in 2011.

You Can't Define Beauty!
Well the cat is out the bag . . . Perhaps that’s what some would say, about Transsexual Model Lea T.
Givenchy’s Transgender Brazilian Supermodel sat down with Oprah yesterday, and I must say that before yesterday I had no idea who he/she was.
However, the minute the camera zoomed in on this Brazilian Beauty, I truly was in awe of her beauty.
Yet, what was quite fascinating was watching the women in the audience as their jaws dropped in disbelief.
So yes, the rumors are true Leandro Cerezo aka Ms. Lea T was born a male.
Now some would say she is the first Transgender Supermodel, and if so at 28-years young, I applaud Lea T and Givenchy’s creative director Riccardo Tisci for transforming the world’s idea of what beauty truly is.
Not only is she strutting down the catwalk flawless, she gives you the illusion that it’s OOOH SO EASY!
When in actuality we perhaps cannot even imagine how much work, energy and pain they have to endure with tucking and hormone replacement therapy their undergoing in preparation for a full sex change from male to female.
Lea T’s petite, ultra feminine, femme fatale, womanly figure is a ray of sunshine to the high fashion world of modeling and perhaps she may be the latest "IT GIRL"!
I dare to say she’s truly paving the way for Transgender individuals around the world!
So Lea T . . . celebrate and embrace your moment, because your new found confidence is tearing down the wall of tolerance and redefining what beauty is all about!
Side Bar ~ I think yesterday’s Oprah Show wasn’t about the shock value, or about fashion’s rising star but about the quest to feel complete with knowing one’s identity!
I think we all at one point have searched for our true identity and love for oneself. Some perhaps arrive at that destination sooner than others, while others are still on that journey. Yet, wherever life leads you, I hope the result is a cup runneth over joy that is all your own!
I hope the full transformation from male to female makes Lea T feel whole, because as we all know self love and full completeness with oneself is hard to come by!
