A Moment In Silence for Steve Jobs (founder of Apple)

Founder and chairman of Apple Steve Jobs has passed away at 56. A creative genius and visionary icon are words often used to describe him. The revolution he made to modern technology is incomparable. Apple's Iphone, IPad, IPod, IMac and iTunes were created under his direction.

In 2004, he was diagnosed with an unusual form of pancreatic cancer, where he had to get a liver transplant in 2009. On August 24, 2011, he stepped down as Apple's chief executive due to his falling health. Earlier today, October 5, 2011, Apple's board of directors released a statement saying Jobs had died of pancreatic cancer.

"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," read a statement by Apple's board of directors. "Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations tht enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts."

He is survived by his wife Laurene, their three children and a fourth child from a previous relationship.
