In an exclusive interview with NRJ MUSIC – Lauryn Hill opens up about why she left music, returning to the stage and motherhood. Check out some excerpts below:
I ask her the question her fans have been asking each other for years: Why did you stop putting out music?
“There were a number of different reasons,” she says. “But partly, the support system that I needed was not necessarily in place. There were things about myself, personal-growth things, that I had to go through in order to feel like it was worth it. In fact, as musicians and artists, it’s important we have an environment — and I guess when I say environment, I really mean the [music] industry, that really nurtures these gifts.
Oftentimes, the machine can overlook the need to take care of the people who produce the sounds that have a lot to do with the health and well-being of society, or at least some aspect of society. And it’s important that people be given the time that they need to go through, to grow, so that the consciousness level of the general public is properly affected. Oftentimes, I think people are forced to make decisions prematurely. And then that sound radiates.”
“I don’t know if you know this, but I have five children,” she says. “The youngest is 2 now, so she’s old enough that I can leave her for a period of time and know she’s going to be OK. That’s one reason [Hill is starting to perform again]. And I think it’s just time. I’m starting to get excited again. Believe it or not, I think what people are attracted to about me, if anything, is my passion. People got exposed to my passion through music and song first. I think people might realize, you know, ‘We love the way she sounds, we love the music, but I think we just love how fearless she is. How boundless she is, when it comes to what she wants to do.’ And I think that can be infectious.”

Though Prince received the biggest honor of the BET Awards with a Lifetime Achievement tribute, Trey Songz’s mother was the belle of the ball. Joining her son as his date, Ms. Songz made quite an impression on the show’s younger audience, so much that she earned #1 on Google’s trending topics.
Born and raised in Petersburg, Virginia, April Tucker gave birth to Trey, born Tremaine Neverson, at the age of 17.
Living on welfare and in Section 8 housing, Tucker enrolled in Virginia State University and graduated six years later, earning a degree in sociology with a minor in administration of justice.
Serving as a juvenile probation officer in Baltimore and a resource specialist in several Maryland counties, Tucker grew interested in helping children. Following her then husband, who was a military man, to Junction City, Kansas, Ms.
Tucker became a program manager for Big Brothers and Big Sisters there and helped children at risk. Despite her relocations to Baltimore and middle America, Tucker decided that Trey would have a better childhood with her parents back in Virginia, where he began singing in church.

FERGIE READY TO LEAVE BLACK EYE PEAS
Fergie is on the verge of leaving the Black Eyed Peas permanently as tension in the band has become intolerable for her, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.
The band has a full tour schedule for the summer and is planning a tour for early 2011. But Fergie won’t commit for that part of the tour, we learned, and the reason is she’s talking about leaving the band for good. Fergie can’t stand Will.I.Am and that is one of the main reasons she wants to leave the band, a source close to them told RadarOnline.com exclusively. The other reason is she’s decided she wants to have a baby!
“Fergie is saying she wants out of the band and the second half of the tour isn’t confirmed for early next year,” the source said.“Things have gotten really bad with Will.i.Am. And it’s not just Fergie who is clashing with him. So is the rest of the band. His ego is out of control. “Fergie just wants to get away from the whole thing.”
Fergie has kept the news so secret that very few people know and she is not ready to make the announcement right now, the source told RadarOnlne.com.
“I don’t know if she’ll admit or deny it when it leaks out, but I do know that it’s 100 percent true, she’s got everything planned out and she says she can’t be convinced to change her mind,” the source told RadarOnline.com. “And she really wants a baby with Josh,” the source said, referring to Fergie’s husband Josh Duhamel. “Between that and the bad blood with Will, it looks like the 2011 tour is in big trouble and she’s saying she’s going to split for good.”

Oh, just his WIFE he went back to this past March! Fanny and her boo Antwaun are back together. They had broken up, according to our source, when he went back to his wife in March. No coincidence when Bittersweet became her lead single instead of “Even Angels”, which was originally scheduled to be the lead single. Now that they are back together, someone from her team revealed that the reason the album has just been pushed back to August is because she wanted to add a certain single about loving and trusting. She wrote said single for Antwaun a while back. But she told her label not to use it when they broke up.
